Chief Operating Officer & Producer

Cavan is Chief Operating Officer and a producer at Slingshot, working across operational strategy and creative projects. He has just produced Slingshot’s latest teen horror film, TORMENTED.

Cavan combines creative and business duties, building on 15 years of TV/film experience in both London and Los Angeles. Cavan has honed creative and commercial instincts working at an impressive range of companies, including Imagine Entertainment, Fox Searchlight, TNT Original Movies, FremantleMedia and Tiger Aspect.

He has a track record of developing and nurturing commercial talent and ideas. Having worked as a television development producer for over eight years, he has conceived and developed hundreds of hours of prime-time television formats which have sold internationally, including THE NAKED CHEF, Jamie Oliver’s first series; TWO FAT LADIES, an equally successful format, and YOUR FACE OR MINE, his original gameshow which won Best Gameshow at the 2003 Rose D’Or and helped launch Jimmy Carr.

Cavan spent nearly 4 years in Los Angeles developing an understanding of the Hollywood system with the intent of applying its key aspects to the UK film industry. His film experience spans major studios, art house specialists, and independents, carrying him to work on the development of big-budget blockbusters such as A BEAUTIFUL MIND and THE GRINCH WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS, both with Ron Howard at Imagine, and TV movies at TNT. He brought his knowledge from those experiences with his move into low-budget genre films at Slingshot.

Cavan holds a BA from Oxford University, an MFA in film production from the University of Southern California, where he graduated from the prestigious Peter Stark Producing Program; and an MBA from London Business School.
