Second Picture Syndrome
Second Picture Syndrome is an elite, high-end development and training programme designed to develop and package mid-budget ($10 to $25m) genre feature films. It has been created for the emerging generation of British filmmakers who have the ability and ambition to make mainstream commercial cinema with international appeal.
Second Picture Syndrome is run by Slingshot in partnership with Skillset, The Salt Company, Optimum Releasing, Ingenious and the UK Film Council in Los Angeles.
The programme combines creative and market-led support. The filmmaker participants will develop projects over the course of the scheme with the goal of having them set up and financially packaged. The programme includes training seminars, masterclasses, and networking events run by high-level industry mentors and execs, repeated opportunities to pitch ideas to decision makers in the UK and US, and a week long trip to Los Angeles, where the participants will pitch to and learn from production companies, studios, financiers and agents as part of an elite group of UK talent.
