I should probably have mentioned…
We started shooting our 4th film, the high school horror TORMENTED on Monday. You can read about it all:
on Variety
or on Movie News
or in Metro, if that’s the way your taste goes
I should clarify, though, that despite a lot of erroneous web chat Alex Pettyfer is NOT starring as the movie’s revenging ghost, Darren Mullett. That honour belongs to the remarkable young actor Calvin Dean, pictured below.
Alex, who is also a talented young actor with a charming tendency to take off his shirt whenever possible is, in point of fact, playing another of the leads, Bradley – a fantasically charismatic but viscious bad boy who deserves everything that he gets.
It’s day 4 of shoot and all is going well, here at Fairview High. Not a fatality yet. More news, and full listing as and when.

Wow. That comment about Alex Pettyfer and His “charming tendancy to take off his clothes whenever possible” was bitchy and mean. Is that how you normally treat the actors in your films?
August 7th, 2008 at 21:12
I would have to completely agree with Christopher on this. That’s a very uneducated assumption about his talent and ability. I understand that people have their opinions about certain things but to base his acting on one photoshoot with Kai is rather immature criticism on your part.
Actually, among all the rising talent that has broke into the business I find that Alex has a knack for the camera and what he does in front of it is so natural as compared to some.
Way to judge an 18 year old who has accomplished more in his short life than most. If anything, he deserves congratulations for staying positive and maintaining a sense of humor, even though people who take unnecessary digs at him on the Internet like this.
August 7th, 2008 at 23:26
However you meant âcharming tendancy to take off his clothes whenever possibleâ?, it’s still not a nice thing to say. I don’t think it’s true at all, how is it a tendancy? It was one photoshoot!
Above this, I look forward to the film.

OK, time to set the record straight for Christopher and Vanessa and any other Pettifer fans whom I have inadvertently offended:
– I KNOW Alex is a talented actor and a remarkable guy. THAT”S WHY I CAST HIM. That’s why I’m spending months making a movie with him. And That’s why I say so in the post above.
- The gag about him taking his clothes of was an in-joke, for his benefit and of the cast and crew who read this – it wasn’t a judgment or a condemnation, and the description of ‘charismatic but viscous’ is about the CHARACTER Alex is playing, not of him.
But as the producer of the film, I’m delighted to find he has such a passionate fan-base! Hope you like the movie which will be out next year.

“charming tendency to take off his clothes whenever possible”
-How can you say something bitchy like that? Maybe you didn’t mean it and thought it was a joke but you can’t go round saying stuff like that to your actors. Alex has accomplished so much in his life. I dislike people who just assume things.
August 8th, 2008 at 00:25
Judging from the way it was written, it came off more like a snarky comment more than anything else [and it looks like christopher and I were not the only ones who thought so].
Maybe the OP should choose their words better and they wouldn’t have so many people taking it the wrong way.
August 8th, 2008 at 03:56
“charming tendency to take off his clothes whenever possible”?
um, what is that supposed to mean?
that’s a pretty lame insult.
August 8th, 2008 at 04:04
Hey guys! I don’t think Arvind meant to insult him, like he said =] I think it just came off wrong.
Besides, personally, I doubt there’s anything wrong with Alex taking his shirt off :]
August 8th, 2008 at 04:13
I was about to comment on that mean spirited remark about Alex by the producer. But I see his response. So to comment, I think Alex’s photo shoots are stunning.
August 8th, 2008 at 20:41
haha it’s funny how everyones getting so touchy on Alex’s behalf!!!
I’m pretty 100% sure, in fact I know that Alex wouldn’t care at all!
Especially as it’s just a joke…and why not take your clothes off anyway if you look THAT good?!
August 8th, 2008 at 22:39
what a prick Arvind must be!
August 9th, 2008 at 00:51
ok ok guys, it was obviously a joke as he stated. Some of us missed that train looks like. And here I thought I knew British humor D:
August 9th, 2008 at 00:53
I will see the movie when it comes out, can’t wait to see him in a role like this XD
August 9th, 2008 at 10:16
Yikes just read all these comments, aren’t the fan base earnest? What fun.
Hope the shoot’s going well guys. xx
August 9th, 2008 at 22:32
Perhaps Mr. David has learned that you can’t throw “in-jokes” out to the whole world and expect people to get it.
August 10th, 2008 at 14:02
I still love the drama that misinterpretation of something which was quite obviously a joke can cause.
August 10th, 2008 at 14:52
It wasn’t obvious until he had to explain. =/ If it was obvious we wouldn’t have said anything about it.
August 10th, 2008 at 15:25
How can anything with the word ‘charming’ in be bitchy? If it had been placed in italics, maybe. It’s a case of tone, and I feel that the intended tone comes across well.
August 10th, 2008 at 23:57
Hey Al – stfu
August 11th, 2008 at 00:56
I guess it was meant as I joke.. But I see Mr David changed his blog to make himself seem less bitchy after some of us commented.
August 11th, 2008 at 01:33
‘Hey Al – stfu’ – I love the quality of fangirl debate.
August 11th, 2008 at 01:41
Mr. David says it was a joke and I’m perfectly willing to accept that. Tiggy’s correct though in saying that he did change the post substantially sometime after the first few posts. Al is correct too. It is a matter of tone, but the tone he intended did not come across as he meant it to everyone. So let’s just say that Mr. David made a joke that some people did not think was funny and leave it at that. those of us who are Alex Pettyfer fans are thrilled that Mr. David cast Alex in his movie, we hope the movie is good, and we’re all looking forward to seeing it. OK?
August 11th, 2008 at 02:19
Thank you Christopher, that was pretty much it in a nutshell. ^^
August 12th, 2008 at 03:24
Bring it on Al.
August 12th, 2008 at 03:34
Oy vay, it’s his blog. Also thanks for the information about the movie, I am very excited to see Alex and Calvin Dean!
August 13th, 2008 at 04:44
…am I the only one who found the âcharming tendancy to take off his clothes whenever possibleâ? line funny? It made me laugh pretty hard. And I’m definitely not an Alex Hater. I was drooling over him just like every other girl who went to see Stormbreaker. Glad to finally see him in another movie…that’s not Wild Child…
August 15th, 2008 at 15:28
Oh, wah wah wah. Srsly guys, why so srs biznes? Thankfully there are some Prettyfer appreciaters out there who aren’t so highstrung. Jeebus.
Looking forward to seeing Alex die in a terribly creative way. >D (Indications of how little clothing he will be wearing at the time would be welcomed…? ;D)
August 16th, 2008 at 16:50
Can’t wait to see this. Not a Pettyfer fan (he can’t act), but looking forward to a teen comedy horror. Looked on IMDB as well. Sounds like a good cast. Mary Nighy, Georgia King, Calvin Dean and Sophie Wu. Seen all these guys before, and all brill!
August 20th, 2008 at 21:52
Oh well , he can take his shirt off when he wants
August 21st, 2008 at 12:21
Every single one of you who has complained about the “charming tendency to take of his clothes” has quoted it wrongly – - it was SHIRT, not CLOTHES. It was quite clearly a light-hearted gag. I’d be the first to complain about those who treat actors badly but this is not an instance of it – - lighten up, folks!
August 27th, 2008 at 21:43
i have to say, alex is a very talented guy and i enjoy all his films and i hope he does as many as he can!
August 28th, 2008 at 02:24
Well, Daphne, the blog as it appears now is not the same as it originally appeared. You have only read the revised version.
September 4th, 2008 at 02:25
Alex is such a great actor, an yeah, it sounded mean, but if it was only a joke, then we don’t have to get this mad about it hahaha
And I completely agree with Lola: I’m pretty 100% sure, in fact I know that Alex wouldn’t care at all!
Especially as it’s just a joke…and why not take your clothes off anyway if you look THAT good?! [2]
