For the next few weeks, I am in Ulpotha, discrete and out of the way yoga resort, deep in the Sri Lanka Jungle. Normal blog service will be resumed in the new year. Meantime, from all of us here in sling-central, thanks for your support and attention over 2008, look forward to the rash of slingshot movies that will be released globally in the first half of 2009 (starting with FAINTHEART on 27 January in the UK, followed by FRENCH FILM on 29 Jaunary in the US) and have a happy holiday season.

Some great news this weekend, FRENCH FILM picked up two gongs at the Monte Carlo Film Festival – best actor for our gorgeous Hugh Bonneville and best screenplay.
Ash and I went out to represent the film and were honoured and flattered by some of the most beautiful women and suavest men either of us had ever met. Thank you Monte!

I spoke yesterday at Library House’s Mediatech 2008 conference, where Slingshot was honoured as one of the MediaTech 100 – one of the 100 most innovative media/technology companies in Europe. It was a fun and thought-provoking conference, with particularly interesting things to say about the rise of casual gaming and what the trend towards cloud computing might mean for web 2.0 (are we onto 3.0 yet?) businesses.
Nic Brisbourne has been kind enough to Blog about my presentation over on The Equity Kicker

Hey – people are liking it!
This is what the BBC had to say in their Dinard Wrap up:

Director Jackie Oudney and star Hugh Bonneville on the set of French Film
The most unashamedly enjoyable film of the festival was Jackie Oudney’s French Film. A romantic comedy that managed to be both romantic and comic (no mean feat, as anyone who has ever seen a film starring Kate Hudson will confirm), Oudney’s debut was sincere, warm, believable, and laugh-out-loud funny. Hugh Bonneville and Anne-Marie Duff star, although Eric Cantona steals the show as a French film director offering his own distinctly French take on love let’s call it Gallic symbolism. Despite watching a film which offered gentle mockery of their nation throughout, the positive audience reaction recalled a quote by Barry Humphries (aka Dame Edna Everage): “Never be afraid to laugh at yourself. After all, you could be missing out on the joke of the century”.
