The Slingshot Inaugural PAL Lab.
Hello Everybody.
Just a quick note on our April development lab with PAL.
We spent five really exiting days developing our current projects at Bore Place in Kent. The isolation seemed to serve its purpose freeing the morbidly desk bound to engage in more a personable form of dialogue. We were lucky enough to be joined by a dedicated group of mixed professionals who participated in script readthroughs, test shoots and engaging critiques. PAL offered us a traditional method to develop our projects, more akin to Band Camp than the status quo of ‘Film Development’.
During PAL we saw FRENCH FILM emerged as a filmic exploration of themes embedded in Ash Ditta’s play The Big Blind. Ash and director Jackie Oudney engaged positively with the other participants at PAL and we look forward to seeing the collaboration develop further. Adam Forgash’s directorial debut THE REAL GAVIN REED was put through a test shoot. Adam was able to test the balance of his script and story and experiment with shooting technique and tone.
The Lab was also the start of David Lemon’s bootiful collaboration with Director Vito Rocco on FAINTHEART, bringing together two unique voices into the slingshot family. Another first time Writer Dominic Leyton cemented his relationship with Gary Love on his sizzling screenplay COLLISION – a culture clash for the crack generation.
Huge slingshot style thanks go out to all people involved – in the firing line and behind-the-scenes – we are looking forward to working with you in the very near future! Check out the photos and QuickTime files of the readthroughs.
See you next time!
